چکیده

Nitrates appear to be constant constituents of human urine. Calculated as the potassium salt, human urine contains’ ordinarily 100 to 200 mg. of nitrate per liter, and occasionally 300 to 400 mg. or more. On normal rations other animals also excrete nitrates in the urine. The question of the origin of the urinary nitrates has not been settled satisfactorily, at least in the case of human urine. Thus the evidence is not conclusive as to whether they are derived only from the food or whether they are formed to some extent, by animal tissues. The problem is of peculiar theoretical interest, since the production of an oxidized nitrogenous radicle by R.nimal tissues would be unique. ,4 somewhat extended historical introduction to this rather obscure question seems necessary for a proper appreciation of the experiments described later.

Knowledge, Attitude and Practice of Physicians in Appropriate Prescription of Organic Nitrates in Iran

Organic nitrates are commonly used in angina pectoris and ischemic cardiomyopathy. In order to optimize their effectiveness and patient convenience, several aspects must be observed. Adequate doses, suitable dosage forms and asymmetric pattern of usage to prevent the nitrate tolerance are some factors that a physician must be familiar with. The objective of the present study was to define the p...

Investigation of phenotypic resistance pattern of Enterococcus faecalis isolated from blood and urine samples of patients admitted to Rasoul Akram Hospital

Background: Nosocomial infections can be a major challenge for medical staff and health care providers when it comes to antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Enterococcus faecalis is one of the bacteria that plays an important role in nosocomial infection. Therefore, it is important to study the prevalence and pattern of resistance of this bacterium in medical centers, especially in hospitals. The aim...

Differentiation of Glomerular from Non-Glomerular Hematuria by Three Different Me-thods of Microscopic Examinations of Erythrocytes in Urine

Background: Morphological examinations of urinary erythrocytes can be of diagnostic value in initial evaluation of hematuria. Dysmorphic urinary red blood cells are known to indicate a glomerular origin of bleeding. We examined the clinical usefulness of this test in a population complained of hematuria by use of three different methods: light microscopy, phase contrast microscopy, and Wright s...

Evaluating the effectiveness of Tamarindus indica partially activated seed coat biomass in removing of nitrates from aqueous solutions

Biomass derived from Tamarindus indica partially activated seed coat was investigated for the removal of nitrate ions from aqueous solutions. Batch experiments were performed to evaluate the parameters like pH, contact time, sorbent dose and initial nitrate concentration. pH of the solution played vital role. The maximum sorption observed at pH=7, sorbent dose 300mg, contact time at 120min, ini...
